Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a hands-on health care profession that focuses on our neuromusculoskeletal system, that is our nerves, muscles and joints. Chiropractors are extensively trained in the prevention, assessment, diagnosis and management of such disorders. This drug free, noninvasive practice is safe and effective for all ages, from small children to elderly adults. A referral is not required to access chiropractic care.

Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, depending on the individual patient. Options used to relieve pain and improve mechanical function include spinal manipulative therapy (SMT), mobilization, soft tissue therapy, exercise, education, modalities and injury prevention strategies.

Spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) involves a highly skilled and precise movement to specific vertebrae in the spine. Such movement or adjustment to a vertebrae corrects joint position and motion which improves function and addresses the potential cause of musculoskeletal pain. The popping sound occurs with the adjustment because pressure is reduced in the joint from the movement, causing a release of air bubbles in the fluid surrounding the joint.

During your first clinic visit to Welch Chiropractic, Dr. Prowse Welch will complete a thorough health history, a hands-on assessment of your current musculoskeletal issue(s) and will begin the treatment process with you.
